The newest addition to the Touriste hospitality group, Hôtel Château d’Eau is the seventh Parisian hotel of the rapidly expanding brand. The interiors by Necchi Architecture nod to late 20th-century design — from the ’70s to the ’90s — and provide the perfect inspiration for our visual identity.
The two vintage Italian ceramic panthers flanking the entrance became the blueprint for our feline icons, while the vernacular shop signs along gritty rue du Château d’Eau inspired our cheeky custom typeface and set of pictograms.
We turned the violet carpets on the fourth floor into the hotel’s signature color, paired with the dark brick red of the exterior — and, of course, a touch of leopard print.
Our indoor signage system draws inspiration from the much-reviled plexiglass signs of 1990s offices, combined with cut-out lettering. Outside, the signs revive a classic colored plastic construction technique — from the felines to the letterforms.
